I'm Joanna

I provide counselling and psychotherapy services to adults, and specialize in the following areas of concern: anxiety and depression, emotion dysregulation, chronic illness, relationship issues, grief and loss, self-esteem, stress management, adjustment and life transitions.

I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. I have worked in a range of hospital settings, including my current role in adult outpatient mental health services. My therapeutic approach is eclectic and tailored to individual client needs, typically incorporating aspects of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and emotion focused therapy (EFT).

The most important ingredient in psychotherapy is the relationship between client and therapist. I work to create a space that is supportive, empathic, honest and non-judgmental. Using a strengths-based approach that emphasizes client autonomy, I will strive to help you to uncover strengths, wisdom and skills that you already have within you, and work with you to identify other ways of coping.

The right therapist can provide you with the tools and support
you need to work through challenges and lead a more fulfilling life.
